From a leading actress of the young German "Cinema Nouveau" to a movie legend, Hanna Schygulla developed in the past 40 years playing in more than 80 movies. In the 70ties she became famous for her appearances in almost all important movies of German Director Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1945-1982). His most renowned film "The marriage of Maria Braun" ("Die Ehe der Maria Braun" (1979) made her world-famous. Later on she was successful in various international productions and started a new career as a chansonière. In 2007 her part in Fatih Akins "The Edge of Heaven" again stands as a remarkable milestone in her filmography.
