A Bridgeport musician with diabetes spoke with Information 12 about his life and wrestle with the illness throughout Nationwide Diabetes Consciousness Month.
Tom Applegate, 71, was positioned into foster care at a younger age. Later in life, he grew to become a social employee.
“I used to be a social employee who did dwelling visits, and I had Bridgeport purchasers,” he mentioned.
Applegate says lots of these purchasers had diabetes themselves. Over time, he made a behavior of pointing them to the Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention’s Nationwide Diabetes Prevention Program.
“It is best to actually benefit from it, when you haven’t already,” he mentioned.
The skilled musician hopes to encourage others by relatable and constructive messages in his artwork.
