Channeling pure emotion beneath an umbrella of digital sub-genres, Near Monday are a formidable musical outfit.
Comprising Alexander and ANY, the band landed again in 2019 with their debut album, Good Music to Watch Color Goals, and have stayed fairly energetic since. Following a string of thrilling singles, Near Monday have now dropped their second studio album, Secret Needs.
With lyrical content material that leaves lots up for interpretation, Secret Needs is a journey via the trailblazing duo’s collective thoughts. And so they’re at their absolute best.
Boasting an expansive sound palette, Secret Needs is full of lush synthwave sound design, which the band ornaments with various rock stylings which might be heavy as they’re spellbinding. The album’s titular monitor kicks off with classic synths and slow-burning rhythms, whereas “Dialog” pulls us deeper into the rabbit gap with its thumping drum hits.
“Kripko Spi” finds Near Monday exploring their techno sensibilities in a shifting means, whereas tracks comparable to “Lovely Ache” and “Blue-Eyed Boy” are intoxicating dance-pop anthems. “Wings of Solitude” makes for a soothing ballad earlier than a Russian model of “Secret Needs” and “Mad About You” wrap up the venture with a bang.

Near Monday’s first album, Interference, was launched again in 2021 and stayed on the German Different Charts for eight weeks, nearly breaking into the Prime 10. Based on a press launch, the band is closely impressed by iconic digital music outfit Depeche Mode.
“I grew up on Depeche Mode’s music,” explains Alexander of Near Monday. “I lived, beloved, laughed, and cried – it doesn’t matter what was taking place in my life, DM had been at all times there. I’d not need us to be like Depeche Mode, however I need our music to develop into a narrative about individuals and for individuals the best way DM do.”
