QUALLA BOUNDARY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A documentary filmed in North Carolina is now receiving worldwide recognition.

The movie’s title is translated in English to “What They’ve Been Taught,” and the filmmaker, Brit Hensel, joined Fox Carolina to debate it. The documentary is part of the Reciprocity Undertaking.

The Reciprocity Undertaking is a brief movie collection and multimedia platform — Indigenous-made documentary quick movies about reciprocity meant to encourage dialog and motion on local weather.

Based on representatives, the Reciprocity Undertaking goals to advertise the planet’s therapeutic by embracing Indigenous values methods and recognizing that we’re in a relationship with Earth.

The collection by Indigenous storytellers and our communities worldwide invitations studying from time-honored and present Indigenous methods of being.

Hensel is the primary feminine citizen of the Cherokee nation to have a movie display on the Sundance Movie Pageant. The movie was shot within the Qualla Boundary in North Carolina.
