LONDON (AP) — A Gaelic sports activities venue in Northern Eire has been included on a shortlist of 14 stadia chosen by the UK and Eire’s bid group to host matches on the European Championship in 2028.
Casement Park is situated within the Northern Eire capital of Belfast and is within the strategy of being redeveloped to change into a 34,500-capacity floor.
It takes its place alongside 9 English stadia, the Principality Stadium in Wales, Hampden Park in Scotland and two venues within the Irish capital of Dublin — Croke Park and Lansdowne Highway.
Croke Park is also a Gaelic sports activities floor that has hosted rugby and soccer internationals within the final 15 years.
Among the many stadia in England is Everton’s proposed new floor at Bramley-Moore Dock, which the group is anticipated to maneuver into for the 2024-25 season when it leaves Goodison Park.
Anfield and Emirates Stadium, the house grounds of Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively, didn’t make the shortlist.
The UK and Eire faces competitors from Turkey to host Euro 2028. UEFA’s government committee is ready to decide in September subsequent 12 months.
