In a press release, Kelsea defined that she views the EP as a continuation of her album Topic to Change, which dropped in September 2022: “These are six songs I want I had final 12 months. It’s in regards to the complexities of the emotions you undergo throughout a large shift at a younger age. Rolling Up the Welcome Mat was how I processed the whole lot.
