The College of Virginia’s important campus in Charlottesville is on lockdown following reviews of a taking pictures and an alleged suspect has been recognized, in keeping with the College of Virginia Police Division.

The taking pictures was reported on Culbreth Highway, police tweeted. The campus was suggested to shelter-in-place round 10:40 p.m. ET.

It’s unclear if there are any accidents or fatalities right now.

After issuing alerts of the lockdown on social media, police later tweeted that it was in search of Christopher Darnell Jones concerning the taking pictures and that he could also be in a black SUV. An earlier tweet warned that the suspect is believed to be armed and shouldn’t be approached.

UVA’s workplace of emergency administration shared on social media an e mail from the college’s vice chairman, which it mentioned had been despatched to the scholar physique.

Vice President and Chief Pupil Affairs Officer Robyn S. Hadley mentioned she was in direct communication with college management and police, and described receiving shelter in place texts while on college grounds as “scary.”

“Please, please take the shelter in place instructions significantly because the scenario stays energetic. The suspect is armed and harmful. If you’re not inside and secure, instantly search security,” Hadley mentioned, including that a number of police jurisdictions have been working to find the suspect.
