All lanes of northbound I-5 in Everett closed after fatal trooper involved shooting

The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating a fatal shooting incident involving a Washing State Trooper on Northbound I-5.

All lanes of NB I-5 are blocked for the investigation.

WSP troopers responded to an incident on I-5 north of Highway 2 just after 4:30 p.m. and during their response a fatal shooting occurred.

KIRO 7 is expecting more details from the SMART team shortly.

#Everett: NB I-5 at Union Slough (MP 197) is fully blocked due to ongoing police activity. We ask everyone to avoid the area until the incident has been resolved. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Traffic is currently being diverted off of I-5 and onto Highway 2 and Marine View Drive.

According to Sigalert, the backup along northbound I-5 begins at about the Everett Mall.
