Camryn Manheim is saying goodbye to Law & Order. ET confirms that the actress, who appeared on 50 episodes of the franchise between 1991 and 2024, will show up for the last time on Law & Order’s season 23 finale, which is set to air May 16.
After playing several one-off characters in Law & Order’s early seasons, Manheim joined the cast as Lieutenant Kate Dixon in 2022, when Dick Wolf revived the series.
Since then, she’s appeared on 44 episodes of L&O, and guested on SVU and Organized Crime too.
“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order,” Wolf told The Hollywood Reporter. “She is a class act and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”
Manheim spoke out on Instagram, penning a lengthy caption about her time on the franchise.
“I had the most incredible experience being a part of the Law & Order Universe, and more importantly the Wolfpack,” she wrote. “I’m so thankful for the three wonderful seasons that I spent with this wildly talented cast of merry pranksters. Mehcad Brooks, Reid Scott, Connie Shi, Anthony Anderson, Jeffrey Donovan, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, Tony Goldwyn and Sam Waterston. Not to mention the stellar guest stars that came in and out of the studio doors.”
“I loved showing up for work each and every day, loved keeping the boys in line at Precinct 27 and most importantly, loved spending time with the most hard working, professional and kindhearted crew,” Manheim continued. “They are truly New York’s finest. Something wonderful awaits me around the corner, and I can’t wait to see what it is. Until then… Go Knicks!”
Manheim’s exit comes nearly three months after Sam Waterston said goodbye to the franchise. The actor played District Attorney Jack McCoy for more than 400 episodes.
“The time has come for me to move on and take Jack McCoy with me,” Waterston said in part at the time. There’s sadness in leaving, but l’m just too curious about what’s next. An actor doesn’t want to let himself get too comfortable.”
“I’m more grateful to you than I can say,” he added. “L&O’s continuing and amazing long run, along with its astounding come-back, is all thanks to you and to Dick Wolf, but for whose vision, patience, perseverance, and unique combination of creative and business talents, none of this would have happened.”
