‘Heated’ argument between neighbors in northwest Las Vegas leads to deadly shooting

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – One person is dead after police said a heated argument took place between neighbors in a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood.

The incident took place in the 2200 block of Starline Meadow Place near Hillpointe Road and Lake Mead Boulevard.

Las Vegas Metro police officers said they recieved reports shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday that a shooting involving neighbors had occurred.

When police arrived they were contacted by the suspect’s wife and the male suspect then turned himself into police without incident.

Officers then located a man laying in a driveway at a home nearby. The man was identified as a person in his 40s suffering from several gunshot wounds, he was later prounced dead at the scene, police said.

During the perliminary investigation police said the two neighbors had a “heated verbal altercation” outside their homes. During the argument the suspect was armed with a gun. At some point the suspect is accused of raising his firearm and shooting the victim, according to police.

The suspect’s wife called police during the time of the shooting and 911 dispatchers could hear the gunshots during the phone call, police said.

Las Vegas Metro police Lt. Jason Johansson said police are still searching for witnesses. Video surviellence has been located by police that does capture the entire incident, Johansen added.

“Based on the information that I am seeing on video our suspect will be arrested and booked in the Clark County Detention Center later on tonight,” Johansson said.
