How to Get Rid of Garlic Debuff

Garlic Exposure is a Debuff in V Rising that weakens Vampires, decreasing their damage negation and damage output. This negative status effect can stack up to 100, raising the damage taken by 1% and reducing the victim’s attack power by 0.5%. Therefore, if the Garlic Debuff were to reach 100, players would take 100% more damage from enemies and only be able to deal 50% of their damage output in V Rising. Additionally, exposure to Garlic functions as a passive taunt, causing enemies to detect the player from a further distance than normal.

While a small minority might appreciate the increased challenge Garlic Exposure provides, most Vampires will undoubtedly wish to remove this Debuff to their damage output in V Rising. After all, being unable to engage in combat at full capacity comes with the heightened risk of dying and losing valuable loot or progression. Therefore, players must find a way to deal with the Garlic Debuff.

Methods Of Finding Garlic Resistance

Before moving on to methods for removing Garlic Exposure in V Rising, it should be noted that this Debuff will wear off over time. Unlike Silver Sickness, which is active as long as a Vampire comes into contact with Silver, the Garlic Debuff will eventually dispel. However, it is often during tense moments in combat that players will want to have the Debuff removed. Hence, waiting for the exposure to go away is generally impractical.

Within the world of Vardoran, there are three ways that players can reduce the Garlic Debuff in V Rising. The first and most straightforward method is consuming a tonic that temporarily boosts one’s Garlic Resistance rating.

During the early and mid-game, Vampires can drink the Minor Garlic Resistance Brew, a tincture that increases Garlic Resistance by 25 for 20 minutes. The upgraded version of the brew is the Garlic Resistance Potion, which offers double the effect for the same duration.

The Minor Garlic Resistance Brew is unlocked by defeating Polora the Feywalker. The upgraded version can be

via the Study or as random loot in Dunley Farmlands.

The second technique is donning apparel that offers inherent Garlic Resistance. Such clothing includes the mid-game Hunter’s Cloak or late-game Phantom’s Cloak. The Hunter’s Cloak Recipe is acquired from Beatrice the Tailor, and the Phantom’s Cloak becomes craftable at the Tailoring Bench once Foulrot the Soultaker has been slain.

Finally, the third means of reducing the Garlic debuff in V Rising is by using Bear Form, a transformation that provides +25 Garlic Resistance. There are many different transformations your vampire can perform in the game, and the Bear Form not only has Garlic Resistance but provides two new abilities in place of your weapons: Smash and Crush.

There is a variant of this ability called the Stygian Bear Form that can be acquired through the Eldest Bloodline DLC. Players must slay the Ferocious Bear to unlock this Vampire Power.

The Dunley Farmlands are the second main area you will visit as you go through the map in V Rising, and you will also encounter Garlic Exposure here. It is currently only experienced around the Dunley Farmlands area, and it is most prevalent in Cottom Farm areas. This will make it important for players to be prepared as they move from the starting area of the game into the second.

What makes this particularly dangerous is that villagers in the Cotton Farms will become aggressive toward you even if you do nothing wrong. Additionally, Garlic Exposure increases your enemy detection distance, meaning they could swarm you from a greater distance. You can see the effects of this in the video from YouTuber kic Gaming above as they traverse the Cotton Farms in their playthrough.

However, when players are not in the Dunley Farmlands, they will not have to worry about this threat. You still may want to have a Hunter’s Cloak or Bear Form on hand for potential adventures into the Dunley Farmlands, as you are likely to wander in and out. When you return, you should have much more knowledge about resisting Garlic Exposure in V Rising.
