Kim Kardashian and Chloe Sevigny was an unexpected pairing to come from this month’s Actors on Actors interview series at Variety. It turns out that it was a surprise for the outlet, too.
During a recent interview, the publication’s co-editor-in-chief, Ramin Setoodeh, revealed that Chloe stepped in “at the last minute” after Kim‘s initial partner for the project called in sick.
He explained the situation and also addressed the rumor that the stars did not get along and that Chloe threw some shade at her partner.

While on the Citizen McCain podcast, Ramin explained that Kim‘s initial partner “called in sick on a Friday night,” via Page Six.
The interview was scheduled for that Sunday. When looking for a replacement, they thought of Chloe since both stars had history with American Horror Story.
Ramin said that she “was incredibly gracious [and] stepped in at the last minute and came in and did this conversation with Kim.”
On the rumors that Chloe was shading Kim, Ramin said that was far from the truth.
“What was so funny about all the press and everyone was talking about how Chloë was trying to shade Kim when she wasn’t and saying she was so happy to be included was that Chloë was really excited to talk to Kim. I was in the green room with her right before she went on, and they really liked each other,” he recalled.
Who was Kim‘s original partner? In an effort to avoid “undue attention to this person,” he opted out of naming her original partner.
During the interview, Kim revealed that one of her sisters inspired her AHS character.
