After many years, fans of the Animal Crossing series are finally figuring out why one of the most hated characters is relatable now. Villagers in Animal Crossing have a tendency to be a polarizing topic, with some garnering an interesting reputation because of their looks and others being immediate favorites. Though it’s not often that everyone agrees about whom the worst villager or NPC is, there are some that are universally disliked. However, more fans are realizing that some removed Animal Crossing villagers were just misunderstood at the time.
One such villager was Phyllis, the crass pelicanthat ran the night shift at the Post Office and Town Hall. Reddit users, like Trick_Blueberry_3812, are saying that she should be brought back, and some comments are even realizing how much they relate to her now.
As many players lament, it isn’t easy being a night shift worker andPhyllis was likely cranky because of the stress of working that shift. Some players are questioning why they didn’t include her in New Horizons because having Isabelle and Tom Nook work 24/7 isn’t logical, especially when Isabelle is often caught sleeping on the job in ACNH.

Finding exploits for Bells has always been the game in Animal Crossing New Horizons, but there is a cap to how many Bells players can have.
Bringing Back Misunderstood Villagers Is A Logical Move
Some Players Are Missing Villagers In ACNH They Never Imagined They’d Miss
These comments do bring up a good point. Other shops on the Island have hours; Nook’s Cranny and Able Sisters both closed overnight, so the Town Hall could close too. Though some people are only able to play at specific times, like overnight, it makes sense why they would want to keep the important locations open to visit. Regardless, bringing Phyllis back would help the flow of the Island seem more realistic and give Isabelle and Tom Nook a much-needed break.
Looking back at the other Animal Crossing games is always a fun thing for players to do, especially when they are thinking about the villagers they wish they could have on their islands. Though some of the seasonal items and bugs in New Horizons are exclusive to this game, a lot of the crossover is the same, so fans could play the old games and have the same experience as playing New Horizons, while still holding on to the villagers they love and giving Phyllis a visit with a better understanding of her cranky demeanor.
Even as the popularity of the newest Animal Crossing installment has slightly dwindled, there are still a significant number of fans playing and restarting their islands four years later. Starting an Animal Crossing island from scratch can be tough for those who have countless hours in-game, especially since they’re used to the amenities like The Roost, which is where Phyllis can be found in New Horizons. Sometimes restarting is necessary for someone who might want to try a new challenge or redecorate their Island without having to go through the hassle of spending a lot of Bells to move things around.
