Mads Mikkelsen Movie Being Remade by Peanut Butter Falcon Directors

Riders of Justice, a 2020 Danish movie starring Mads Mikkelsen, is being remade.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Schwartz and Tyler Nilson have been tapped by Lionsgate to direct a remake of Riders of Justice.

What is Riders of Justice about?

“Markus returns home to care for his daughter when his wife dies in a tragic train accident. However, when a survivor of the wreck surfaces and claims foul play, Markus suspects his wife was murdered and embarks on a mission to find those responsible,” the synopsis for the 2020 movie reads.

Riders of Justice was directed by Anders Thomas Jensen, who co-wrote the script with Nikolaj Arcel. Along with Mikkelsen, it starred Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Andrea Heick, Lars Brygmann, Nicolas Bro, and Gustav Lindh.

Both Jenson and Arcel are returning to write Lionsgate’s English-language remake. James Myers oversees the film for Lionsgate. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing the film, while Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Anders Kjaeurhauge serve as executive producers.

Schwartz and Nilson made their feature film directorial debut in 2019 with The Peanut Butter Falcon, which starred Zack Gottsagen, Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, Bruce Dern, Thomas Haden Church, and Jon Bernthal.

They followed that up with Los Frikis, which won the Knight Marimbas Award at the 2024 Miami Film Festival.

Riders of Justice isn’t the only Mikkelsen-starring movie that’s getting an English-language remake. Leonardo DiCaprio is also producing a new version of Another Round, which is a 2020 Danish film directed by Thomas Vinterberg. It was announced in January 2024 that Chris Rock had struck a deal to direct the movie, which does not yet have a release date.
