Meghan Trainor would really like to take over for Katy Perry now that she’s departed American Idol.

If you were unaware, the “Firework” pop titan stepped back from her role on the panel of the popular competition show after the most recent season. Since then, it’s been a guessing game about who would take over, and many stars have expressed interested.

During a recent interview, Meghan revealed how far she’d gone in trying to book the gig and why she was drawn to the franchise.

“I’ve done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job. And I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world who don’t really have the full say. But I begged. I begged for this job. I haven’t heard any updates. So check my emails. But like that is my dream job,” she said while on Watch What Happens Live this week.

Meghan continued, saying that she wanted to work with superstars in the making.

“I love being a part of their process. I just get way too attached and it’s like my show. I’ve watched since I was a child,” she explained.

Earlier this week, the oddsmakers revealed the top choices for who will take over for Katy. However, the top choice already said that they weren’t interested.
