Princess Diana‘s brother Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, and his wife of 13 years, Countess of Spencer Karen Spencer, have announced they’re divorcing.
“It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future,” he told the Mail on Sunday in a statement.

About why they’re splitting, the report shared that the marriage allegedly “broke down amid the strain of writing his harrowing memoir detailing the physical and sexual abuse he suffered at boarding school.”
They share a 12-year-old daughter named Charlotte Diana.
The Times has reported that the Earl has hired famed divorce attorney Fiona Shackleton to represent him. Shackleton is the same lawyer King Charles used back when he and Princess Diana divorced in 1992.
Shackleton also represented Prince Andrew in his divorce from Sarah Ferguson.
The Earl is also father to Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Eliza Spencer, Lady Amelia Spencer and Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp (all with his first wife Victoria Lockwood) and the Honorable Edmund Spencer and Lady Lara Spencer (with his second wife Caroline Freud.)
