The couple first married in 2022 during a small ceremony in prison. Following Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s prison release, she and Ryan Anderson planned a second wedding, which they called a “re-do wedding.”

“We want a proper wedding at some point,” Ryan told PEOPLE Magazine earlier this year, adding that Gypsy “deserves” it.

“Gypsy deserves a white dress moment. I know every female deserves that. And Gypsy’s already got the style of dress she wants. And it kind of shocked me,” he continued. “Somebody asked her that question the other day, and I was like, ‘Wow, that was specific,’ and she had it ready. So I wanna give her that moment.”

Gypsy chimed in, claiming “We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that.”

“Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else,” she added.

The first episode of “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up” aired on Lifetime on Monday, June 3, and began with the moments leading up to Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s release.

Gypsy’s family and Ryan Anderson were seen getting ready to welcome the 32-year-old home, talking about ordering a cake, putting up Christmas decorations, and cleaning up the kitchen.

In one scene, Ryan told the cameras, “Marrying Gypsy wasn’t easy.”

“Of course, I asked for his approval, and he gave it to me, but you never know if you truly get that approval,” he added of Gypsy’s father, Rod Blanchard. “Right now, I just want this to work. Everybody is giving us a 50-/50 shot, but I believe it is 100%.”

The special education teacher then called himself the “lucky one” because he got to pick Gypsy up from prison. “A lot of people wanted that honor, I got it. I don’t know how,” Ryan Anderson added of the honor. “I pinch myself sometimes.”

“I think with my exes, they were in love with the idea of me rather than they were in love with me,” she explained in the docuseries, adding that everyone else “ran” from her emotional baggage, but “he didn’t.”
