Ryan Anderson Details What Happened During Gypsy Rose Blanchard Fight

The 32-year-old was serving a 10-year sentence after she pled guilty to her involvement in her mother’s murder. She met Ryan while behind bars, and the two tied the knot in a prison ceremony in July 2022. Three months after getting out of prison, they separated, and rumors swirled that the reason was due to Ryan’s behavior.

Ryan Anderson is addressing the rumors that he was controlling and verbally abusive towards Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which reportedly led to their separation.

Ryan Anderson Allegedly Screams In Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Face

“He got in her face and screamed,” Nadiya Vizier, 22, told PEOPLE Magazine. “Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary.”

Vizier added, “It was like she was on a leash. What’s the difference between being locked in a prison cell and feeling locked in her own home and marriage? She didn’t want to put up with it anymore.”

Ryan has continuously denied the accusations.

In a new interview with EXTRA, Ryan Anderson addresses the rumors once again, continuing to claim they are false.

“She’s even said that she’s not afraid of me,” he added. When asked where he thinks the allegations came from, Ryan said, “during our disagreement.”

“Gypsy said some hurtful things, and I did get angry; I got upset,” he admitted. “It’s hard to hear stuff, like when you’re going through something, and she tells you something, you know it’s hard to hear.”

“As far as me in her face screaming, if that’s what she gathered from that, I hate that,” the special education teacher added. “It didn’t happen quite like the friend said.”

Ryan Anderson went on to tell his side of the blow-up fight, acknowledging that Gypsy has PTSD and he “hit a trauma trigger.”

“Gypsy does struggle with PTSD from what her mother did, and I hit a trauma trigger that night, and she flipped,” he continued to tell EXTRA. “I saw it, and I immediately stopped and tried to check on her, and by the end, it was that fight or flight moment [that] happened.”

Was He Controlling?

Ryan Anderson also addressed the rumors he was controlling, claiming those were false. “If anybody knows Gypsy, they know that she is not going to be controlled. Anybody who knows Gypsy knows that she does what she wants when she wants.”

“As far as the controlling, I don’t know how. That’s their perception, and I think their perception is wrong,” he said. “They said I wouldn’t let her go swimming. [Do you] realize it was February when she wanted to go swimming? That’s in the middle of winter. The pools closed.”

“That was the only thing I ever told her no to,” Ryan admitted. “And the reason was, we were both sick, and she [would have gotten] pneumonia if she went swimming.”

Ryan Anderson On Honesty

Ryan Anderson previously told PEOPLE Magazine that he and Gypsy have “always been very open and honest with each other.”

“Even honesty to a fault. Gypsy wants to be so honest that she’ll say things that hurt my feelings and vice versa. But that’s one of the things I think that makes us stronger is that we are willing to lay it all out on the table. But also, one thing I love about us is after an argument, it’s done,” he told the magazine. “We hold no resentment.”

Ryan and Gypsy’s breakup will be told in Lifetime’s docuseries, “Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,” which airs on Mondays.
