Starfield players looking for more official mods to improve the game are in luck because Bethesda just released more add-ons to the Creations marketplace. Despite a rocky launch thanks to some overpriced additions to the game, Starfield players have settled into the Creations system by building some impressive mods that not only fine-tune certain aspects of the game but often overhaul entire systems. As users continue to debate Bethesda’s pricing models on its own Creations, the studio is already releasing more mods onto the platform that should please players looking for some fresh threads.
Over on the official Creations website, Bethesda dropped three new official add-ons: The Blackout Shotty Skin, the Allied Desert Camo Skin Pack, and the Water-Cooled Miner’s Outfit. While they’re minor additions to Starfield, it’s still no doubt refreshing for dedicated players looking for more content that doesn’t require waiting for several months. Despite the excitement around the new Creations, players have been quick to criticize some of the pricing with many noting that while the Allied Desert Camo Skin pack isn’t too bad in terms of monetization, the Miner’s Outfit is fairly overpriced.

Aside from Bethesda’s official Creations, which include a series of cosmetics and a questline that was largely deemed too expensive for the amount of content it offers, Starfield players have made ample use of the Creation Kit. One of the system’s most popular add-ons includes an Unofficial Patch that corrects hundreds of bugs and glitches that have affected nearly every section of the sci-fi RPG. Another overhauls the AI of followers, making them more useful in combat scenarios and significantly less buggy.
As far as new content is concerned, one of the most popular Creations at the time of publication is the Avontech Shipyards mod which adds new ship parts designed with a more futuristic aesthetic in mind. Some of the more ambitious Creations have introduced elements from the Star Wars universe, allowing those with a love for the galaxy far, far away to almost completely convert Starfield into a Force-tinged adventure. There’s even more variety if one looks into mod-hosting database Nexus Mods which sports plenty more add-ons to redefine the experience.

When it comes to modding Starfield, enthusiasts will quickly point out the add-ons that fix some of the game’s most frustrating issues, prioritizing making it a more pleasant experience overall rather than beginning with fun additions. Much like the aforementioned Unofficial Patch which brings together various bug and glitch fixes to create a more stable game, there are plenty of options for players looking to create a smoother gameplay experience. Fixing the cluttered UI, NPC behavior, and general navigation go a long way to improving Starfield.
Perhaps one of the most essential mods is Better NPCs, which does what it says on the tin by overhauling the AI of nearly every non-playable character in Starfield. With this extension installed, NPCs will feel more realistic in their interactions with the player and move around locations with an actual purpose rather than simply walking around aimlessly. On a related note, the Combat and Stealth AI Overhauls mod have a similar effect on hostile NPCs, allowing enemies to react faster, take cover from incoming fire, and keep their heads down when being suppressed.
Smaller but still essential mods like Ship Skip and No More Zoomed In Dialogue Camera help save users plenty of time as they strip away some of the more tedious and outdated elements of Starfield. While it’s initially fun to watch one’s ship take off and land, seeing the same animation every time becomes dull very quickly while the Zoom Dialogue camera feels like an outdated system that should have stayed in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. These are just a handful of minor add-ons out of thousands that can fundamentally upgrade players’ Starfield experiences.

What Lies Ahead For Starfield?
Bethesda Isn’t Slowing Down Development
While Starfield’s Creations are a fantastic addition to the game, players are already eager for the next major update. The next major chapter in the sprawling intergalactic saga is the Shattered Space expansion, a piece of paid DLC that will see the esoteric order of House Va’ruun take center stage. Based on some of the recently unveiled promotional material, Shattered Space will deliver a story that’s drenched in cosmic horror themes as players visit the aforementioned faction’s secret homeworld of Dazra.
Aside from the upcoming Shattered Space expansion, which is slated to arrive in fall 2024, Bethesda has promised several more content updates. The most anticipated of these is a promised patch that will introduce ground-based vehicles which will hopefully eliminate the tedium of exploring barren worlds. Director Todd Howard has also confirmed that once Shattered Space is in players’ hands, that won’t be the last the community hears about Starfield as Bethesda is already working on another as-yet-announced expansion that does not currently have a release window.
