This Could Be A Major Week For Starfield DLC

Summary

Starfield
‘s Steam listing has seen over 100 changes in less than a month, hinting at a major update or DLC drop soon.
Bethesda is rumored to be gearing up for a big announcement at the upcoming Xbox Showcase on June 9.
Director Todd Howard confirmed new in-game additions like land vehicles and overhauled maps to improve player experience.

Hot on the heels of the most recent update in May, Starfield appears to be gearing up for another major announcement if its Steam listing is anything to go by. Bethesda’s massive sci-fi RPG may have been in players hands for just shy of a year now but that doesn’t mean the community has given up hope that the studio has further plans for the game. Bethesda has previously promised that it’s working on some major updates and mechanics and those features may drop much sooner than expected.

Over on Reddit, user JarusinTheStars noted that Starfield’s SteamDB page has recently been flooded by changes, the most that the game has ever experienced since it launched.

Bethesda has pushed out over 100 changes to the game’s Steam listing in less than a month; to place that into perspective, 100 changes were released between March and May, meaning the speed of these updates has grown exponentially. The previous influx of SteamDB changes heralded the launch of the May update, so it seems fair to speculate that another major patch or potentially even the Shattered Space DLC could be revealed soon.

While nothing has yet been confirmed, it would make sense that Bethesda is gearing up to either drop a major content update or reveal some more information on Shattered Space.Microsoft is confirmed to be hosting an Xbox Showcase on June 9 and while the actual announcements are still largely under wraps, it’s certainly possible that Starfield could take a great deal of the spotlight alongside the next Call of Duty. Whether or not that turns out to be true remains to be seen, but all those changes to the SteamDB listing are certainly an indication that something is happening.

Just before the May update, director and executive producer Todd Howard confirmed that Bethesda is working on some huge new additions to Starfield. Aside from the overhauled map system, which was universally praised by the community, Howard revealed that the studio is also creating land vehicles to assist in planet-side exploration. Given that this will likely be the big takeaway from the June update, if it happens, a variety of smaller quality-of-life tweaks should also be expected.

Starfield certainly hasn’t had the easiest time since it launched as players felt Bethesda neglected the title’s post-launch support. The studio may have promised updates and patches that would address feedback, but these quickly became sporadic and ineffective in dealing with the game’s more substantial issues. One can only hope June brings even better news after the May update finally pointed Starfield in the direction of success.
