In a TikTok video shared a few days ago, Wagner revealed her painful experience using Old Spice deodorant.

“Like a week ago, Old Spice gave me chemical burns under my arms, and they did compensate me but what they gave me,” she said. “They sent me a letter. They did compensate me. You wanna know what it’s for?”

The company gave Wagner a coupon to get another Old Spice deodorant, only one, up to an $8 value.

“You think after you burned my underarms so bad, they were raw, I felt like if I were to scratch, I’d be seeing bone at that point,” she said.

“And you did it to a bunch of other people. I know you’re being sued and did you just hand out a bunch of coupons?”

The original poster shared, “So I’m definitely getting a chemical burn on my skin using Old Spice. Anyone else?” and many chimed in with their thoughts and experiences.

“I’ve been using Old Spice deodorant since I was 15 and never had any issues until just this past year. It happened to me twice before where my armpits were stinging and burning so badly I had to run to the bathroom and wipe it away with paper towels and had big red rashes on my armpits. Today it just happened again within an hour of applying it, and when I went into the ocean for a swim my armpits started stinging so badly,” one Reddit user shared.

Another said, “My skin was messed up by Old Spice Fiji, which also caused me to get a terrible rash, redness, and blisters. A few nights later, I realized my armpits were terribly burning. They were strange patches that were bright red. They were burning so terribly the next day that I was unable to lift them. The burns from the chemicals are beginning to scab.”

And there’s more where that came from. It appears that many others have experienced similar issues after using Old Spice.

In the proposed class-action lawsuit, the man sought $25,000 in damages.

In response to the lawsuit, Procter & Gamble issued a statement.

“The safety of the men who use Old Spice is the foundation of everything we do. We go to great lengths to ensure our products are safe to use, and tens of millions of men use this product with confidence and without incident every year. A small number of men may experience irritation due to alcohol sensitivity, a common ingredient across virtually all deodorant products. For men who have experienced a reaction to deodorant, an antiperspirant may be a better option because they have a different formulation.”

Green Matters reported that according to ClassLawGroup, a judge determined in 2016 that it was not possible to pursue a class action lawsuit against Procter & Gamble for the chemical burns. The judge gave a few reasons for not pursuing the suit with one of the reasons being that the 13 Old Spice products had varying fragrances, making it hard to determine liability.
