Carolina Blue vs. Tennessee Orange — that’s the College World Series matchup on deck for Sunday night.
The Tar Heels and the Volunteers square off in Omaha tonight in the winner’s bracket battle after each squad won their respective opening-round game.
No. 1 Tennessee showcased its high-powered offense on Friday night, taking down No. 8 Florida State in a 12-11 slugfest. The Vols came back from down 11-7 in the eighth inning to put the Seminoles on the brink of elimination. Outfielder Dylan Dreiling and first baseman Blake Burke each knocked in three runs apiece, and Christian Moore hit for the cycle in a five-hit outing.

No. 4 North Carolina also picked up a win on Friday night, as outfielder Vance Honeycutt hit a walk-off single in the ninth inning to take out No. 12 Virginia 3-2. The UNC pitching staff gave up just five hits in its 2024 College World Series debut.
A win on Sunday night for either Tennessee or North Carolina puts the respective squad one more victory away from a spot in the College World Series finals. Meanwhile, a loss won’t end either team’s time in Omaha. Instead, it will set up a matchup in the loser’s bracket against No. 8. Florida State
