After playing the lead opposite Katrina Kaif’s Merry Christmas, Vijay Sethupathi is all set for his second outing of 2024 with a mass action drama, Maharaja. Written and directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the movie is officially a few days away from its release. While fans have been wondering about the film’s release, its makers have finally announced the date.
Swaminathan recently took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to drop a brand-new poster of Maharaja. Along with the poster, the director revealed that June 14 is set as the release date of the movie.
For the unversed, it has been about a week since Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja trailer was unveiled. The trailer teased a mysterious action drama with a lot of thrill. It introduces Sethupathi as the titular character, an ordinary barber. As he goes to the police station to file an FIR, the mystery thickens. He reports about missing ‘Lakshmi,’ but it is neither gold, money, or any person. While the police get irritated by his report, it is soon revealed that Maharaja is not an ordinary man.

The upcoming Tamil movie also stars filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a crucial role. Mamta Mohandas, Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Divya Bharathi, and others are playing supporting characters in the movie. Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy are producing the film under the banners Passion Studios and The Route. Maharaja will compete with Dhanush’s Raayan at the box office, and it would be an interesting sight.
