After spending nearly eight years in prison for her role in her mother’s murder in 2015, Gypsy Rose Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson in July 2022. However, almost two years into their marriage, Gypsy Rose announced her separation from Anderson in March 2024. According to People Magazine, Ryan Scott Anderson is a middle school special education teacher from Louisiana. The publication reported he and the ex-convict came in contact after Anderson decided to send Gypsy Rose Blanchard a letter in the prison. Although he didn’t expect a reply, soon they began having e-mail conversations and formed a friendship. After meeting each other several times in 2022, the couple got married and acquired a marriage license. At the time of their marriage, Gypsy Rose was still serving her sentence.
However, three months after her release from prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson announced their separation. People Magazine mentioned that she announced her split on Facebook and took the decision after listening to her heart. She added, “I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”
Ryan Scott Anderson shared that he was not doing well after the separation and that the announcement “just came out of the blue.” Following their separation, Gypsy Rose filed a restraining order against Scott Anderson based on finances and got back with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker.

According to TODAY, Ryan Scott Anderson is 37 years old and currently lives in Louisiana. After his separation from his wife, Scott Anderson mentioned how the split affected him mentally. During an interview with the Daily Mail, he said that he didn’t know Gypsy Rose still had feelings for Ken Urker and hadn’t got the time to speak to her. He added, “I haven’t spoken to her, so I don’t know what’s going on. I’m at a loss. I’m really not doing well at all.”
Although Ryan Scott Anderson and Gypsy Rose Blanchard didn’t open up about why they split, one of Gypsy Rose’s friends revealed that the former became controlling. Speaking with People Magazine, Gypsy Rose’s friend said, “He got in her face and screamed. Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too.”
