Alabama and Georgia are ready to get at it once again. Nick Saban and Kirby Smart meet in the SEC championship for the second time in three years. It’s the first matchup between the two since the Bulldogs won the national championship over the Tide in January 2022.
Like the other conference title games, this one has more on the line than just SEC bragging rights. The No. 1 Bulldogs are guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoffs if they can stave off Alabama and stay undefeated. But if the No. 8 Tide pull off the upset, the CFP committee will have lots to think about. Would Georgia be out of the running? Does Bama get in?
While Smart’s squad has been unstoppable for two years, if anyone can take them down, it’s Alabama. Georgia has only lost one game during its back-to-back national championship run, and that came against Alabama in the 2021 SEC title game. The Tide have history on their side, too, as the Bulldogs have never beaten Alabama in a conference championship game.
Will the Tide do it again? Or is Georgia already on its way to a three-peat?
