Alabama vs. Kentucky odds, props, predictions: Rolling Tide can clinch SEC West with win

No. 8 Alabama (8-1 SU, 6-3 ATS) invades Lexington on Saturday for an SEC showdown against Kentucky (6-3 SU, 5-4 ATS). Kickoff is set for noon ET at Kroger Field.

The Crimson Tide are coming off a huge 42-28 win over LSU. The Wildcats downed Mississippi State 24-3 to end a three-game losing skid.

When analyzing Alabama vs. Kentucky odds and props, the recent form of the Tide has to be considered. Alabama enters Saturday’s tilt riding a seven-game winning streak since its only loss of the season against Texas in Week 2. The Crimson Tide still has College Football Playoff aspirations.

Alabama betting news: Crimson Tide rolling toward another potential CFP berth

Alabama QB Jalen Milroe rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s win at LSU. Milroe, who added 219 passing yards on the night, outperformed LSU QB and Heisman Trophy candidate Jayden Daniels in the victory.

Alabama remained at No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings after beating LSU. The Crimson Tide can clinch the SEC West division title with a win on Saturday. They would likely meet Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

Alabama has no room for error if it is to qualify for the College Football Playoff after losing to Texas in Week 2. A two-loss team has never been among the four teams competing for the national title under the CFP format.

Alabama brings a well-balanced offense into Lexington this weekend. The Crimson Tide have 19 rushing TDs and 13 passing TDs on the season. Milroe, who was benched earlier this season against South Florida, has flourished after his early struggles. He leads the Tide with nine rushing TDs and has thrown for all 13 of Bama’s passing scores.

RB Jase McClellan leads the ground attack with 632 rushing yards and five TDs. Jermaine Burton is the Tide’s top receiving threat with 537 yards and five touchdowns.

Alabama’s defense has been dominant in the second half of games. In its four biggest wins against top-tier teams — Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and LSU — the Crimson Tide have outscored their opponents by a margin of 82-13 in the second half.

Kentucky betting news: Wildcats tied for last in tough SEC East division

Kentucky’s losses have come to the top three teams in the SEC East standings in Georgia, Missouri, and Tennessee. The Wildcats started the season 5-0 and then lost three straight before beating Mississippi State last week.

Starting QB Devin Leary, who transferred from NC State, threw for two TDs and no picks in the win over Mississippi State.

There were some concerns about Leary being able to play against Alabama after he suffered eye and shoulder injuries last week. Fortunately, for Kentucky fans, he’ll be good to go.

Liam Coen says QB Devin Leary will be fully ready to play for Kentucky vs Alabama this week.

Leary has amassed 1,905 passing yards and 18 TDs on the season along with seven interceptions. He’s been sacked 13 times, but the offensive line has offered better protection recently with just two sacks in the last two games.

RB Ray Davis is UK’s top scoring threat and one of the country’s most prolific TD scorers. Davis leads the Wildcats with 903 rushing yards and 14 total TDs on the year. That ranks him No. 10 in the nation.

The Wildcats might be worth considering as a sizable home dog on the spread. It’ll be a tough ask for Kentucky to win this game outright. The Wildcats haven’t beaten the Crimson Tide since 1997 when they outlasted ‘Bama in overtime, 40-34.
