Amon-Ra St. Brown tricks Lions fans with April Fools’ Day joke

After a post on Instagram that led many to believe he may be changing his jersey number to No. 8, Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown revealed on Tuesday night that it was all just a joke.

St. Brown posted a photo to his Instagram story on Monday of him donning the No. 8, which was his number during his college days with USC. But we all should’ve known better, considering it was April Fool’s Day.

“April Fools,” St. Brown wrote. “Y’all should know better…”

St. Brown had an opportunity to grab the No. 8 after former teammate Josh Reynolds left in free agency to the Denver Broncos, where he signed a two-year deal recently.

Reynolds had worn it since 2021, when he first joined the Lions after being released by the Tennessee Titans.

Of course, a number change would have been a big deal for fans who had already bought St. Browns’ No. 14 jersey. Safe to say, there were plenty of sighs of relief from Lions fans after seeing his post.

Brown’s joke is just another stark reminder that you should believe absolutely nothing you see on social media on April 1.
