Apes rule the world in ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ trailer

The latest in the Planet of the Apes saga, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes transports us to a nearly unrecognizable Earth. Now, apes are unquestionably the dominant species, while humans hide in the shadows.

The new film, directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner), picks up generations after 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Caesar (Andy Serkis) is long dead, but his son Cornelius (Owen Teague) and the rest of the apes remember his teachings. However, some apes, including a tyrannical new leader, try to twist Caesar’s words in order to enslave other apes and resurrect dangerous human technology. It’s up to Cornelius and a young human (Freya Allan) to stop him, leading them on a journey that will change the world for apes and humans alike.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters May 24.
