Nearly a year after divorcing “Selling The O.C.” star Tyler Stanaland, Brittany Snow finally is speaking out and setting the record straight on their shocking split.
“I wasn’t ready to be very public about anything,” the “Pitch Perfect” star said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that dropped on March 27. “It took a while for me to come around.”
As she and host Alex Cooper discussed the intricacies of marriage, divorce, and heartbreak, Snow alluded to her public breakup that occurred after her ex-husband appeared on the first season of “Selling The O.C.,” a spinoff of Netflix’s wildly successful real estate reality show, “Selling Sunset.”
Snow’s Ex-Husband’s Flirtatious Behavior With Co-Stars Destroyed Marriage

On “Selling The O.C.,” Snow’s now ex-husband, Tyler Stanaland, appeared alongside fellow Orange County realtors Jason Oppenheim, Alex Hall, Alexandra Jarvis, Kayla Cardona and others. The show, which premiered in August of 2022, chronicled the cast’s romantic foibles as they sell multi-million dollar homes in glitzy Orange County. While Snow never appeared on the show, her ex-husband’s extracurricular activities were broadcast for the whole world—including Snow—to see. Storylines included Stanaland getting flirty with some of his colleagues, especially Hall, whom he was seen cuddling with in scenes, and Cardona, who was involved in an off-camera storyline about trying to kiss Stanaland on a night out.
Viewers were shocked, as was Snow, who was apparently unaware of Stanaland’s behavior. Snow and Stanaland announced their separation in September of 2022, shortly after the show premiered, leading to rumors that Snow was not pleased with Stanaland’s behavior on the show. They filed for divorce in January of 2023 after almost three years of marriage.
It didn’t help that Stanaland was spotted out with Hall the day the divorce announcement dropped. “‘Everyone who knows Tyler and Brittany knows she wasn’t comfortable with the show,’ a source told Page Six of what led to the split. ‘That’s why he did his best to keep his marriage and the show separate, but it only backfired.’ Another insider confirmed: ‘The show basically destroyed their marriage. Brittany was not happy with what she saw.’”
Snow Was “Not Aware” Of Husband’s On Set Behavior

While Snow didn’t publicly blame her ex’s appearance on the show at the time, she’s now providing more details about what went on behind the scenes.
“I will preface this with, they’ve taken up—and I’m collectively calling them all ‘they’ because I don’t know any of them except my ex-husband—they took up a lot of emotion and energy and time and real estate in my head and I don’t want to give them any more time and energy because then they would win and they get what they wanted, which was getting my time and energy and attention.”
“I was not aware of a lot of things. And I’ll say that, what people think happened, happened… They messed up. But I tried very hard to see it all from every side and release that anger because it doesn’t serve me,” she said on the podcast.
When Cooper asked Snow whether she knew the woman involved in the flirtatious storyline with Stanaland, Snow responded, “Which one? No.”
“I did not know what was going on. I think as someone who’s so hands-on with my career, I think I was just completely shocked that I didn’t have a handle on reality in that way,” she recalled. “That was shocking.”
Snow Ignored Instincts Because Of Love
Reflecting on her ex’s appearance on the show, Snow, who admitted she watched the show alone, with her dog, said she was blindsided but also took accountability for ignoring her own gut feeling and how that has impacted her.
“How can you trust yourself? Which was the saddest part of the whole thing… To trust yourself after that and be, like, I have a good sense of character,” she said. “There were some instincts, and I think because I was in love, I didn’t trust them.”
Brittany Snow Says She’s ‘Grateful’ For Split

Snow said that while the split was painful and shocking, Brittany Snow doesn’t have any regrets.
“What happened, happened… What is alluded to in the press is true. But there was love there. There was a marriage there. There was so much love. And I think that that gray is hard to understand because it’s much more salacious and interesting that it’s like, he did this and she did this. And I think what I would want to put out there is that I think a lot of people go into relationships where someone hurts them but, I don’t regret it. I don’t regret anything that happened because I loved that time that we had when we had it.”
In the end, Snow said she’s actually grateful things went down the way they did. “That has been such a gift for me. People keep telling me, what did you feel afterward? And I’m like grateful, in a weird way, because it was a neon f—— sign.”
Hall Posts Shady Response to the Brittany Snow Interview
In a seemingly shady response to the interview, Alex Hall posted a reel to her Instagram page depicting her on a patio overlooking a gorgeous Italian scene. “Imagine talking s—about me in your ugly town to your stinky friend & I’m just over here having breakfast in Lake Como before I head to my massage,” she wrote over the reel.
Her caption read: “PSA: You will never be criticized by someone doing more than you. When working your way to the top, always have your blinders on. Focus on yourself, your goals, and what’s important to you. xx.”
