Daytona 500 live updates, results, highlights from NASCAR’s rain-postponed 2024 race

Beware of the Big One.

Thursday’s Daytona’s Duels proved mayhem is but a prerequisite to the proceedings when the Cup Series rolls through Daytona International Speedway.

The Daytona 500 returns to the fore on Monday, 24 hours after rain postponed the race from Sunday, offering fans quite the preview of the incoming NASCAR season.

You never know what to expect when the Cup Series takes place on a superspeedway. Last season, it was Ricky Stenhouse Jr. who captured the famous trophy, thrusting JTG Daughtery — a fairly inconsequential charter team for a great many years — into prominence.

It was a year filled with surprises in 2023. The Daytona 500 sparked such hysterics, with Stenhouse rocketing to the front after one of those iconic multi-car collisions.

What will this year’s competition bring? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for certain: It will be a showcase worth watching.

The Sporting News is tracking live updates from Monday’s race at Daytona International Speedway. Follow below for the highlights and live results from 66th running of The Great American Race.

4:38 p.m.: The first five laps have gone about as calmly as expected. Joey Logano and Michael McDowell still retain their front row position. Ross Chastain is attempting to spark a trend by starting up a third lane

2:30 p.m.: Mother Nature shouldn’t cause too much of a concern for today’s race. The storm system that swept Daytona International in a fog of rain on Sunday has finally subsided.
