Did Giannis Antetokounmpo Ever Get His Free Wingstop Wings?

He decided to shoot his shot for some free Wingstop wings. But did Giannis Antetokounmpo ever get those wings?

During the January 27 Milwaukee Bucks vs. New Orleans Pelicans game, an opportunity to scan a QR code to get some free wings popped up when the Pelicans missed free throws. And any Antetokounmpo fan knows just how much he loves food, so of course, he had to get in on the action.

But did he ever get his free wings?

He’s just like the rest of us! It’s tough to resist some free food, especially when it’s wings from Wingstop!

In a clip shared on TikTok by @sports_highlights2719, Antetokounmpo is seen rushing to get his phone so he can scan the QR code when the opposing team missed their free throws. But what the clip doesn’t show is if he was successful and got to cash in on the free wings deal.

Shortly after the game, Gabe Stoltz, Milwaukee Bucks beat reporter for Brew Hoop took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share that the Bucks star wasn’t fast enough to claim his free wings.

Giannis postgame: “I didn’t get my chicken. I wasn’t fast enough. I couldn’t get the QR code. Maybe my mom or Mariah got some.” https://t.co/Ru2wMRqf00

But now, three weeks after the game, Antetokounmpo shared a video on Instagram revealing that he finally got some Wingstop wings (and what his favorite flavor is).

“You know I can’t go nowhere without my lemon pepper wings, baby,” the Bucks star said in a recently shared video on Instagram. “I got ’em! Some people have them for lunch. I have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner, baby.”

Many of the NBA star’s fans dropped into the comment section of the Instagram clip to leave their thoughts.

“He wants a commercial with Wingstop now,” one viewer wrote. Another added, “Haha can’t go wrong with lemon pepper!”

Many others also commented about lemon pepper being their favorite Wingstop wing flavor.

According to a Wingstop representative, the wing giant has an official basketball sponsorship with a few NBA teams, as well as local brand partners.

“Wingstop has official basketball sponsorships with the LA Lakers, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Chicago Bulls, and local Wingstop Brand Partners in Milwaukee run a special promotion with the Bucks where if the opposing team misses two free throws in a row in the fourth quarter, the arena wins five free wings, making moments like Giannis and his viral QR code snapshot possible,” a representative for Wingstop told The Blast exclusively.

“Bulls and Pistons fans can look forward to promos tied to scoring outcomes and Knicks and Lakers fans can indulge in custom limited-time-only flavors in their markets throughout the season.”

NBA fans in Detroit couldn’t wait to cash in on some free wings when the Pistons finally broke their 28-game losing streak back in December.

Winning the game against the Toronto Raptors meant fans in Detroit could finally cash in on the Wingstop promotion – five free boneless wings for every Pistons win – and they were more than ready!

Many Wingstop followers commented that they want Hot Honey flavored wings to come back, and those fans are in luck, because Wingstop brought them back just last week.

“I’m definitely buying a sh– load of them and freezing them this time. Y’all not about to play with my feelings NO MORE😭😭😭,” one fan wrote. Another added, “WE GOT WHAT WE PRAYED FOR❤.”
