The much-anticipated release of Dune: Part Two finally arrived on March 1, releasing to thousands of theaters including IMAX. The sci-fi sequel is getting good reviews thus far, and features a star-studded leading cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Anya Taylor-Joy, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem.

Dune: Part Two’s closeness to Oppenheimer’s box office puts the film on a great path to success at the box office. Unlike Oppenheimer, the Denis Villeneuve movie is setting this record in March. Releasing on July 19, 2023, Oppenheimer had the benefit of being a summer movie, which already typically means a greater flow of traffic and thus revenue at the theaters.
