Elle King has pulled the plug on her upcoming show in Texas amid the backlash she has received for her drunken performance of a Dolly Parton song at the Grand Ole Opry.
As you may know, the 34-year-old singer, who is the daughter of actor Rob Schneider, admitted she was “hammered” as she took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry as part of Dolly Parton’s 78th birthday celebration.
King, whose real name is Tanner Elle Schneider, was slurring her speech and signing all the wrong words as she was up on stage, leaving country music fans and attendees horrified.
Now, she is postponing her upcoming show last minute — with no explanation.
Elle King Pulls Plug On Show Amid Backlash For Drunken Dolly Parton Performance
MEGAElle King was scheduled to perform this Friday at Billy Bob’s Texas — a music venue in Fort Worth, TX, however, she has suddenly pulled the plug on the show and rescheduled it for later this year.
The venue was the one to announce the news, telling followers “The Elle King event, originally for Fri. 1/26/24 has been rescheduled to Sat. 9/21/24 @ 10 PM. Original event tickets will be accepted for the new date. Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding!”
Elle King has yet to comment on the reason why the performance is being rescheduled.
This news comes after the country music singer took the stage a few days ago, completely intoxicated. “Hi, my name is Elle King. I’m f—ing hammered,” she admitted to the audience before she attempted to sing Dolly Parton’s 2001 hit ‘Marry Me’.
As she could not remember the lyrics, she decided to make up her own, singing, “I don’t know the lyrics to this thing in this f—ing town. Don’t tell Dolly ’cause it’s her birthday.”
King then told the audience, “I’m not even gonna f—ing lie, you bought tickets for this s—? You ain’t getting your money back.”
The Grand Ole Opry posted an apology on social media following the performance by Elle King, stating, “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used.”
Elle King’s History With Substance Abuse

Although many fans are criticizing Elle King for disrespecting the Grand Ole Opry and Dolly Parton by showing up highly intoxicated, others are concerned for her as she has a history of substance abuse. In 2020, the country music singer revealed she used drugs and alcohol to “mask” the emotions following her destructive marriage, but, she said she got help and was sober.
In 2022, King described how different it is to perform drunk versus sober.
“You know, now that I have done performances in both ways, they are different,” she said, adding, “They don’t call it ‘liquid courage’ for nothing. I mean, how many jobs do you show up for and there are bottles of liquor on the table for you (in your dressing room)? There are not a lot.”

This is not the first time Elle King was visibly intoxicated as when she hosted ‘New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash’ earlier this month, she was, once again, extremely inebriated.
The country music singer is known for hit songs such as ‘Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)’ and ‘Ex’s and Oh’s’.
Elle King has yet to comment on the incident.
