Facebook And Instagram Go Down Simultaneously, Outage Trends On X

Around 10:00 AM EST, the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram went down simultaneously around the world. Both social media sites belong to the same parent company, Meta.

Users flocked to Twitter, now known as simply X, to share their grief and to see if that platform had also been affected by the sudden outage.

Facebook And Instagram Are Experiencing An Outage

Downtector.com verified a spike in outages on Facebook; however, no known reason for the platforms being down has been released.

Users stated that when they went to Facebook and Instagram, they were logged out of their profiles, and have been unable to log back in.

Other users on Down Detector were quick to point out that they were unable to access other apps and services due to the inability to log in through Facebook. Some mobile apps, like Candy Crush, are connected through Facebook which requires a log-in.

“I had a panic attack until I found out it was down because I’ve had it since childhood. Connected to everything, too,” one user called Trashvis wrote while another netizen called Matt National wrote, “App keeps kicking me out. As soon as I login the session immediately expires and kicks me back to the login. Same for the website.”
