During the launch event of his Kings League Americas competition on Tuesday night, former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué had an unexpected mishap.
As Piqué made his way to greet fans after a presentation, he failed to notice a gap between the stage and the barrier, causing him to fall through and disappear from sight.
Concerns immediately arose among the fans, fearing that he may have been seriously injured. However, it was later confirmed that Piqué escaped the incident unharmed.
Piqué, who retired from professional football earlier this year after a successful 15-year career with Barcelona, has been in the spotlight due to his personal life as well.
He split from pop star Shakira in 2022 after an 11-year relationship, with Shakira alleging infidelity on Piqué’s part. Piqué is currently in a relationship with Clara Chia Marti, who is 10 years his junior.
The Kings League is a seven-a-side tournament that was initiated by Piqué in Barcelona last year, and he now aims to expand the competition to North America.
Alongside other former footballers such as Iker Casillas and Sergio Agüero, Piqué is committed to making his Kings League concept a success.
