Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Liam Williams full card results: Rising British star looking to continue KO streak

Hamzah Sheeraz takes on Liam Williams in a classic crossroads clash at London’s Copper Box on Saturday.

Sheeraz is one of the brightest rising stars of British boxing. The 24-year-old middleweight, who defends his Commonwealth title for the first time, boasts a 19-0 record with 14 stoppages. His past 12 fights have ended inside the distance.

Nevertheless, Williams (25-4-1, 20 KOs) represents a step up in class, a potential gut check and other such cliches. The 31-year-old Welshman bravely challenged Demetrius Andrade for the WBO middleweight title in 2021, dropping a unanimous decision, and has only ever lost in elite company.

That is where Sheeraz intends to prove he belongs, with potential blockbuster fights being talked up in his immediate future.

As a jewel of Frank Warren’s Queensberry stable, he has been touted as a fighter likely to feature on the “5 vs. 5” card against Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom fighters on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol’s undisputed light heavyweight showdown in Saudi Arabia on June 1.

First, Sheeraz must take care of business against Williams, who will be desperate to prove he has more big nights ahead of him after coming unstuck against Chris Eubank Jr. two years ago.
