All Elite Wrestling’s Tony Khan is a true fan of pro wrestling. The co-owner of AEW and owner of Ring of Honor has done everything possible to create an alternative wrestling brand and he has succeeded.
And Khan also knows how to acknowledge legends of the sport such as Antonio Inoki, who will be honored at WrestleDream on October 1. The event takes place at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle and will air on BR Live in the U.S. with FITE and DAZN distributing in other territories.
Inoki, an influential wrestler known for fighting boxing great Muhammad Ali in an exhibition, passed away last year. The founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling, Inoki was an innovator in wrestling and his contribution will be celebrated in style.
“Next Sunday, October 1, it’ll be one of the greatest nights in wrestling, with every match capable of stealing the show and a card befitting the legacy of a kingdom that has touched every one of us,” Khan said via Fightful. “AEW and the world of pro wrestling will converge as the greatest champions and rivalries in this sport will take center stage live on pay-per-view. At AEW WrestleDream next Sunday, we will pay tribute to the dreamer that made this all possible, the late great Antonio Inoki, with an event one year in the making.

“You won’t want to miss AEW WrestleDream as we’ll end a chapter in wrestling history and begin a new era in AEW live on ay-per-view next Sunday night, October 1.”
The biggest match on the card will be Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. A dream match, Danielson and Sabre last fought in 2008. Both were supposed to fight at Forbidden Door 2022 before the matchup was nixed. Now, the two best technical wrestlers in the world, with styles that honor Inoki, face off in Danielson’s backyard.
Other fights on the card include several NJPW stars, including Eddie Kingston vs. Katsuyori Shibata and Chris Jericho and The Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Sammy Guevara, and Will Ospreay). Several title and grudge bouts feature Adam Cole and MJF, FTR, Kris Statlander, and “Hangman” Adam Page.
