19:33- Mitchell and Williamson haven’t been given anything to hit, but the pair are desperately trying to break the shackles. The required rate has gone above 9 an over, so they need to get a move on, and fast. New Zealand 87/2 in 15 overs (Williamson 23*, Mitchell 17*).

19:12- There’s the end of the Powerplay, and India are well on top. New Zealand still need over 350 more runs to win. A long way to go, but this match is going only one way for now. New Zealand 39/2 in 7.4 overs (Williamson 4*, Mitchell 1*).

In comes Daryl Mitchell.

19:01- WICKET! Another one for Shami! Outside off stump, catches the outside edge of Ravindra’s bat and goes through to KL Rahul. It’s a good low catch. New Zealand 39/2 in 7.4 overs (Williamson 4*, Ravindra 13).

Kane Williamson comes to the crease.

18:47- WICKET! Rohit Sharma turns to Mohammed Shami, and he answers the call first ball! Induces the edge from Conway, and KL Rahul takes a brilliant diving catch behind the stumps. New Zealand 30/1 in 5.1 overs (Conway 13, Ravindra 8*).

18:45- If New Zealand can get out of the Powerplay without losing a wicket, they will fancy their chances of unsettling India here. They’ve started well so far, helped by a bit of wayward bowling from Bumrah. New Zealand 30/0 in 5 overs (Conway 13*, Ravindra 8*).

18:21- So, here comes the New Zealand chase. If anything could upstage Kohli today, it would be this score of 397 being chased down. Can they do it? Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra will get them started. Jasprit Bumrah has the ball in hand, with Conway on strike. Short and wide, smashed away for four. New Zealand 4/0 in 0.1 overs (Conway 4*, Ravindra 0*).

17:50- India finish with 397 on the board! Massive effort from the batsmen. Each of the batsman did their job but the showstopper was Virat Kohli as he reached his 50th ODI century in superb fashion in front of his idol Sachin Tendulkar.

LIVE ACTION STARTS!

Kane Williamson: We would have batted first. Hopefully, some dew later. Amazing occasion. Four years ago, similar situation but a different location. They have been playing some good cricket. Always a building phase between the tournaments. Need to assess what is in front of you when the tournament starts. We are going with the same team from the previous match.

Rohit Sharma: We are gonna bat first. Looks like a good pitch. Looks like on the slower side. Whatever we do, we need to do well. I think it was back in 2019 when we played the semis. NZ is one of the most consistent sides. Very important day. Constantly, talking about how important it is about turning up on that day. It is about controlling the controllables. Same team.

Line-ups:

New Zealand (Playing XI): Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson(c), Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips, Tom Latham(w), Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

TOSS: India have won the toss and will bat first.

Football legend David Beckham will be in attendance at the Wankhede Stadium today to witness the epic clash between India and New Zealand in the World Cup semis.

A day before the mega semi-final clash, the Indian Express reported that the Rahul Dravid-led Indian team management had requested the pitch curator to shave off the grass from the pitch. This was done to bring the Indian spinners into the game and to neutralise the effect of Kiwi fast bowlers.

To add more fuel to the fire, Daily Mail dropped a bombshell report on Wednesday that explored the pitch saga in a larger extent. It reported that the ICC pitch consultant, Andy Atkinson, is frustrated with the fact that the semi-final between India and New Zealand was initially planned to be played on a fresh surface but will now take place on a used wicket.
