A Japan Airlines aircraft carrying hundreds of passengers on Tuesday caught fire on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport.

All 379 passengers and crew on board were evacuated from the plane, Reuters reported, citing Japan Airlines.

Video footage from Japan’s public broadcaster NHK showed flames engulfing the Airbus A350, which departed from the northern island of Hokkaido.

The passenger jet appears to have collided with a Japanese Coast Guard aircraft that was heading to Niigata to provide relief for the recent earthquake, according to initial reports.

NHK reports that the Japan Coast Guard has confirmed six people were on board its plane. One person evacuated while the other five have been found but their condition is currently unknown, NHK said, citing the Tokyo Fire Department.

A spokesperson for Japan Airlines was not immediately available to comment when contacted by CNBC.
