In a recent interview with Variety, the “Ain’t Your Mama” crooner opened up about the emotional embargo that resulted from her first relationship with Affleck.

During their initial romance in the early 2000s, the power couple faced intense media scrutiny and public interest that ultimately led to the demise of their relationship. They were even supposed to get married in 2003 but called off the plans due to the media craziness.

Lopez and Affleck got back together in 2021 in a whirlwind romance and married the following year. She has now revealed that they still suffer “PTSD” from their initial relationship stint.

The interview, which was held with the news outlet to promote her new album and film by the same name, “This Is Me … Now,” also had Lopez weigh in on their love life and how they deal with constantly being in the public eye.

The Latino beauty shared that she and the “Deep Water” actor are experienced in matters like that and can better handle the media scrutiny that comes with fame as they are now “older” and “wiser.”

“We also know what’s important, what’s really important in life, and it’s not so much what other people think. It’s about being true to who you are,” she added.

Lopez went on to divulge that not all her team members were in support of her showcasing her love life with Affleck in the upcoming documentary, but she seemingly couldn’t care less about their worries.

“As artists, we have to follow our heart, and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn’t think was the best idea, but I had to do it,” she shared.

On whether the film is a scripted feature or doc, Lopez explained, “You have to see it, and you’ll have to experience it to understand it. That’s why I call it a ‘musical experience.’ Because there’s music, you can see it, you can hear it and then you’ll get to live it.”

“This Is Me… Now” documentary will be released on February 16, 2024.
