Kate Winslet and her Titanic and Avatar director James Cameron have been the subject of feud rumors over the years.

Apparently, this rumor dates all the way back to the late 1990s when she was doing press for her Oscar nomination after filming Titanic.

She shared in an interview at the time, “I would only work for Jim Cameron again for a lot of money.” Apparently, she “related harrowing near-drownings, and lots and lots of yelling.”

Well, she did end up working with him again: in 2022, she played Ronal in Avatar: The Way of Water and she’ll also appear in Avatar 3.

Now, they’re both revealing if there was ever a feud.

James told Variety, “there was never a rift between us. She had a little postpartum depression when she let go of Rose. She and I have talked about the fact that she goes really, really deep, and her characters leave a lasting, sometimes dramatic impression on her.”

Kate shared, “There’s a part of me that feels almost sad that stupid, speculative ‘Titanic’ stuff at the time overshadowed the actual relationship I have with him. He knows I will be up for anything. Any challenge, any piece of direction you give me? I’ll try it.”
