Melissa McCarthy Laughs Off Barbra Streisand’s Ozempic Gaffe

Streisand Leaves Cringeworthy Comment On McCarthy’s Post

Streisand left a comment on photos posted by actress Melissa McCarthy, 53, on Monday, April 29, that some of McCarthy’s 13 million followers found cringeworthy. McCarthy shared photos of herself dolled up for a celebration honoring director Matthew Bourne at the Center Theatre Group gala. In the snaps, McCarthy and director Adam Shankman pose in pastels.

“Pastels only to honor the incredible Matthew Bourne at the Center Theatre Group gala last night with this fella Adam Shankman !! Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage,” McCarthy captioned the sweet photos.

Famous friends like Mariska Hargitay commented, “Gorgeous,” on the pics, while Octavia Spencer wrote, “These lewks are yummy.”

But one famous friend took a different route.

Streisand Questions Whether McCarthy Is On Ozempic

Streisand took to the comments section and wrote, “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” The comment has since been deleted, but was shared by the Comments By Celebs Instagram account.

Many fans felt the comment was inappropriate. After it was deleted, others in the comments field addressed it.

“Me running to the comments to look for Barbara’s comment,” said one. “I think Barbara thought it was a dm,” quipped another. “Babs. No, honey. Just no,” chastised another.

Streep And McCarthy Have Worked Together In Past

People magazine reported that Streisand and McCarthy had previously worked together, so they appear to be friendly.

“Back in 2016, McCarthy performed a duet of “Anything You Can Do” with Streisand as part of the singer’s Encore album. McCarthy told Entertainment Weekly last year that Streisand is ‘really funny’ and recalled what surprised her about the star when they first met. ‘I think when she opened the door she had leggings on and lunch meat in her hand. And I was like, none of this is what I expected,’ recalled McCarthy.”

McCarthy Brushes Off Streisand Comment

But TMZ reports that McCarthy isn’t taking Streisand’s comment personally after a TMZ photographer questioned McCarthy about the comment.

“MMC made it clear it was NBD at all saying … ‘I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her.’ She even waved off the photog’s question on whether she thought Barbra was out of line.”

Meanwhile, Streisand took to her own social media to issue an apology, writing on X, “OMG. I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I received for my birthday!” explained the legendary singer, 82.

“Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”

McCarthy Has Never Commented On Ozempic Use

ABC News reported McCarthy has never commented on whether she is using the drug to control her weight.

“While McCarthy has spoken publicly in the past about her weight journey and her experiences with body shaming, she has not spoken publicly about Ozempic or other medications for weight loss. In a 2016 interview, the ‘Bridesmaids’ actress said she never wants weight to be ‘the most interesting thing’ about herself.”

“‘I’ll be up, I’ll be down, probably for the rest of my life,’ she told Refinery29 of her weight. ‘The thing is, if that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up.’ McCarthy continued, ‘There has to be something more. There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that. It can’t be the first question every time, or a question at all.'”
