During Sunday night’s game, Wade, 41, was surprised with some exciting, big news!

After talking about hanging Wade’s jersey from the rafters, former Heat head coach Pat Riley shared the news that Miami plans to put an 8-foot-tall bronze statue of Wade in front of the stadium later this year.

“What else we gonna hang from the rafters? We hung a couple of championship banners, and Atlantic Coast Conference banners and then we hung a gold medal banner, and we retired your old butt, we hung it from the rafters, and the Hall of Fame we put up there today. So, what else we gonna hang from the rafters?” Riley said.

“Out there, next year, there will be a statue 8-feet tall. We wanted to make sure it was bigger than Shaquille O’Neal. It will be the first statue ever that will be on Biscayne Blvd, Dwyane. It is forever for the greatest player in the history of this game.”

After hearing the news, Wade said, “I didn’t dream of this. I’m very grateful.”

The news was shared on Sunday during halftime of the Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets game while honoring Wade for his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame last year. While no specific date has been given for when fans can begin seeing Wade’s statue standing tall outside of the arena, it will be sometime during the 2024-25 season before the end of 2024.
