Despite making history as the first woman headliner at Rolling Loud’s New York installment last year, her surprise return in March was riddled with technical difficulties.

The actress aimed to celebrate the release of her new single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” with a mixed melody performance of her classic and newer hits, but the celebration hit a snag. This was due to the event’s audio struggling to align with her planned setlist, leading to frustration on stage.

After repeated attempts to coordinate with the audio team, Minaj eventually exclaimed, “Kill the DJ. Kill the sound guy.” An X user, claiming inside knowledge, suggested that the issue might have originated from the sound team rather than the DJ, emphasizing the seamless performance during Lil Wayne’s set in comparison.

The ‘Pink Friday’ Singer’s Fans Slam Netflix’s Hip-Hop Documentary Over Rapper’s Absence

In July, Netflix’s highly awaited documentary, “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop,” ignited a storm of criticism from the Trinidadian-born musician’s dedicated fanbase.

After the trailer for the documentary premiered on the streaming platform, her supporters quickly took note of the eight-time American Music Awards winner’s absence.

Outraged, they voiced their disappointment on social media, questioning the decision to exclude Minaj, a trailblazing artist whose influence had left an indelible mark on the genre. Taking to X, one fan expressed disbelief, asking:

“Did Nicki decline to be in the doc or sum? cause idk how you can talk about women in hip hop without having Nicki?”

Another fan hinted at the possibility of a strategic move, stating, “HOW do y’all know for sure Nicki isn’t in it? They could be excluding her from the promo to get the shit to go viral.”

The absence of the “Barbershop: The Next Cut” star’s in a documentary discussing the history of women in hip-hop caused someone else to emphasize Minaj’s decade-long dominance in the genre.

A fourth cybernaut also pointed out, “A documentary about female rap, and Netflix wouldn’t have thought to put the most influential, awarded, and credited female rapper Nicki Minaj in the documentary? Hmm.”

It turned out that apart from the Chin Li rapper’s absence, another notable name not mentioned was none other than Missy Elliott.
