ONE Championship looks to be the top promotion in combat sports in 2024. It will start by producing the first MMA fight card of the year on January 12. ONE Fight Night 18 airs on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. and Canada.
The main event will be Shamil Gasanov vs. Oh Ho Taek in MMA action. The initial main event was Superlek Kiatmuu9 defending the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing Title against Elias Mahmoudi, but the latter had to withdraw due to injury.
Gasanov turned pro in 2015. He joined ONE in 2022 and is 1-1 with the promotion. “The Cobra” lost his last fight in July against Garry Tonon. Ranked fourth in the ONE featherweight rankings, Gasanov has thought about nothing but revenge against Tonon. First, he must get past Oh Ho Taek.
“These past months have been a challenging period for me as I’ve been recovering from a knee injury,” Gasanov told ONE. “However, I’ve been pushing myself hard to get back in training, as my coach has strictly prohibited me from resting until I avenge my recent defeat. MMA is the central focus of my life, encompassing both my work and my studies. My opponent is a true warrior! A lot of fighters rejected my challenge. Only this guy stepped up to the plate, and I’m incredibly grateful for his willingness to face me.”

Oh Ho Taek turned pro in 2014. “Spider” also joined ONE in 2022 and is 1-1 with the promotion. His last fight was also a loss, in March against Akbar Abdullaev.
Other fights on the card include Muay Thai and kickboxing contests.
