The UAAP Season 86 men’s and women’s basketball actions tip off this weekend.
In the men’s side, defending champion Ateneo opens its title-retention bid on Saturday against last year’s bronze medalist National University at 4 p.m., after the match between host University of the East and University of Santo Tomas at 2 p.m.
Runner-up University of the Philippines battles Adamson to start its Season 86 stint on Sunday at 4 p.m., while La Salle takes on Far Eastern University in the first game.
The men’s basketball games are played every Wednesday, which will feature a quadruple header, and Saturdays and Sundays.
Games will be mostly held at Mall of Asia Arena except on October 7 as the quadruple header will take place at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The men’s basketball league will also hold games at UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on October 21 for the first time ever.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry game on October 4; La Salle-UP match on October 18; and the finals rematch between Ateneo and UP on October 22 will be sold separately from the rest of the games scheduled on that gameday.

The women’s basketball tournament opens on Sunday, October 1, with an explosive quadruple header in two different venues.
Last year’s runner-up La Salle battles FEU at 9 a.m., while UP and Adamson collide at 11 a.m. at MOA Arena. Defending champion NU opens its title quest against Ateneo at 3 p.m. at the Quadricentennial Pavilion after UST’s home game against UE at 1 p.m.
Five of the seven women’s playdates will feature quadruple headers.
