Robach and Holmes are publicly addressing their affair and how it caused them a “year of hell.” The former “GMA3” co-hosts recently released the debut episode of their “Amy and T.J” podcast, in which they reflected on the world’s reaction to their secret relationship.

Robach got emotional as she revealed that there were multiple days where she “wanted to die,” which was “something I never experienced before in my life.” She said, “I just didn’t want to get up. I didn’t want to see what new headlines was going to be out there.”

Holmes and Robach had never addressed the affair nor the fallback on their personal lives and careers since it became public news. However, during their conversation on the podcast, the former ABC personalities described themselves as “the folks who lost the jobs they love because they love each other.”

Roback explained that her panic started when Holmes began sending messages written “in the past tense” and how several ABC producers said they had difficulty trying to contact him. The journalist said she was “so afraid that he had done something” that she got her Dad to go with her to Holmes’ apartment and enlisted the doorman’s help to access the place.

She said, “You were just splayed out on your bed. I ran to you and said, ‘T.J.,’ and you didn’t move. It was the most awful thing having to touch your body and see if you were warm. I was so afraid. You were just incoherent.” Holmes also recalled the incident and said, “That day was essentially me getting off work and pounding vodka. I didn’t stop for several hours and took who knows how many weed edibles.”

Roach has also ended her marriage to Shue, but it was a much quieter process than her partners’. The former couple finalized their divorce about four months after the scandal began and amicably split their assets through a mediation process. Robach and Shue had no kids and will share custody of their dog, Brody.
