Ted Lasso season 1 found the coach slowly winning around the players and management of the AFC Richmond team – not to mention the press and public – and adjusting to life in the UK. The fourth episode, “For The Children,” is a key entry in the evolution of the relationship between Ted and Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), AFC Richmond’s owner who is initially out to destroy it as revenge on her ex-husband Rupert (Anthony Head).
In “For The Children,” Rupert sabotages a charity event for underprivileged children to embarrass Rebecca publicly by making planned celebrity guest Robbie Williams cancel. Quick-thinking Ted then recruits a local busker named Cam Cole to perform, who wins over the skeptical crowd with an awesome one-man performance. Cole was actually seen before on Ted Lasso’s second episode “Biscuits,” and is very much a real-life musician.
According to the performer’s own website, “Cam Cole is a singer, songwriter, busker and new age traveler from London, UK who roams around performing on streets and venues as his one-man band show.” Cole is best known for busking on the streets of London and mostly performs original songs. As portrayed on the show, he’s something of a one-man band and plays many different instruments, including drums, bass, and even the didgeridoo. His appearance on Ted Lasso obviously gave his visibility a boost, though his touring plans were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Cam Cole Isn’t The Only Cameo In Ted Lasso
Along with the Cam Cole Ted Lasso appearance, the AppleTV+ show is home to so many cameos. However, while most TV and movie cameos are movie stars, various footballers and soccer pundits appear on Ted Lasso playing themselves to cement the sitcom in the sports world. While soccer pundits aren’t always natural actors, some that have worked well are Jeff Stelling, a former Sky Sports News commentator who is just as Ted Lasso-like in real life, and Chris Kamara, who also has a self-deprecating comedy streak in his commentaries.
