Cobra Kai season 6 will feature a global karate tournament, the Sekai Taikai, but who will train each of the main characters remains to be seen. Given how Daniel, Chozen, and Johnny have joined forces to create a unified dojo ahead of the Sekai Taikai, it can be assumed that most of the characters will have three sensei at their disposal. However, aside from a few shared lessons, Cobra Kai will likely focus on separate pairings of sensei and student. In other words, something that is good for Miguel’s training may not be what Robby needs, and vice versa.

With most of the young Cobra Kai characters now working together, the show has the opportunity to feature some unique master-apprentice pairings. Cobra Kain was built on the rivalry between Daniel and Johnny, and as a result, some characters never got to learn from the other side. Additionally, the lessons taught by John Kreese and Terry Silver put some of Johnny’s former students on dangerous paths. The Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, and Eagle Fang students will now have to go through a perfect training process if they want to perform well in Cobra Kai season 6’s tournament.

8 Miguel Diaz – Johnny Lawrence

Miguel’s first and only sensei

Cobra Kai has seen multiple characters switch dojos or betray their sensei, but this does not apply to Miguel. The bond between Miguel and Johnny is one of the pillars of Cobra Kai, as most of the show was built on their relationship. Johnny taught Miguel everything he knows in terms of karate but has also guided the character as a father figure. Johnny and Miguel have had bad moments, but they never abandoned each other. Therefore, there is no other option to train Miguel than Johnny Lawrence himself ahead of the Sekai Taikai.

7 Sam LaRusso – Chozen Toguchi

Sam is the future of Miyagi-Do

Sam is one of Cobra Kai’s best fighters and one of the few characters who never switched dojos. As the daughter of Daniel LaRusso and essentially the granddaughter of Mr. Miyagi, Sam is the future of Miyagi-Do. However, considering she has learned very much everything Daniel had to teach at this point, it’s time for Sam to be mentored by Chozen. The former Karate Kid 2 villain showed Daniel a different side of Mr. Miyagi’s karate, which could help Sam in the Sekai Taikai. Daniel’s students could use a little more offense, and Chozen is the perfect sensei to teach it.

6 Robby Keene – Johnny Lawrence

Robby has yet to be trained by Johnny

Given how convoluted Robby and Johnny’s relationship in Cobra Kai has been, it is easy to forget that Robby was never properly trained under his father. It was Daniel LaRusso who first taught Robby how to fight, and it was John Kreese who was running Cobra Kai by the time Robby switched dojos. Although Robby briefly trained under Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen for the Sekai Taikai qualifiers, the show never had a moment in which Johnny taught his son karate. Therefore, Johnny needs to be Robby’s sensei at least once before the show ends.

It was only at the end of Cobra Kai season 4 that Johnny and Robby began to fix their relationship. Before that, a lot of Robby’s actions, including getting close to Daniel, had to do with making Johnny upset. Fortunately, they have reconnected as father and son, which is why there is no better time for Robby to become Johnny’s karate student. Additionally, Robby and Miguel are now on good terms, meaning there will not be any tension if Johnny trains both of them at the same time. It’s time for Robby to learn Johnny’s Cobra Kai.

5 Tory Nichols – Chozen Toguchi

Tory’s character arc is similar to Chozen’s

Before Cobra Kai season 5 premiered, one popular theory was that Chozen would eventually serve as a mentor to Tory. This theory was based on the fact that Chozen, just like Tory, was once a villain. While Chozen didn’t become Tory’s sensei in season 5, they had a brief but meaningful interaction when Chozen infiltrated Terry Silver’s dojo. Now that Tory will join “Miyagi-Fang” as revealed by an official image from season 6, it would be a waste not to have Chozen train Tory. Some would consider Tory unredeemable, yet Chozen did arguably worse before becoming a different person.

4 Eli Moskowitz/Hawk – Daniel LaRusso

Eli found himself again thanks to Daniel

Eli, or Hawk, has had an interesting journey in Cobra Kai. From becoming more confident thanks to Johnny to becoming a bully after his time with Kreese, Hawk made himself into a villain during seasons 2 and 3. The character found redemption in season 4, during which he was trained by Daniel LaRusso. Eli owes a lot to Johnny, but it is safe to say the Cobra Kai teachings eventually played against the character. Miyagi-Do has worked surprisingly well for Eli, who won the latest All-Valley Karate Tournament after training under Daniel.

3 Demetri Alexopoulos – Daniel LaRusso

Daniel has helped Demetri in every step of the way

One of the most perfect master and student pairings in Cobra Kai is that of Daniel and Demetri. After a couple of failed attempts at training at the Cobra Kai dojo, Demetri found in Daniel the exact type of sensei he needed – someone who would have the patience to teach him all the fundamentals before getting into the proper fighting skills. Demetri rarely picks up a fight and has used karate mainly for defense, meaning there is no better philosophy for him than that of Miyagi-Do, particularly the one taught by Daniel.

2 Kenny Payne – Johnny Lawrence

Kenny needs Johnny’s Cobra Kai

Kenny is the latest example of how dangerous the Cobra Kai lessons can be, especially if they are being taught by Terry Silver or John Kreese. Similar to Hawk, Kenny became a bully while learning how to fight to defend himself from bullies, leading to an intense rivalry with Anthony LaRusso. While Kenny was not interested in leaving Cobra Kai, he felt betrayed by what Silver did. This is why Johnny would be the perfect sensei for him, as Lawrence’s Cobra Kai philosophy wouldn’t be too different but would not involve all the bad things Silver was trying to teach.

1 Anthony LaRusso – Daniel LaRusso

Anthony can still learn karate from his father

Cobra Kai season 5 strongly suggested that Anthony had no interest in learning karate. However, by the end of the season, Anthony was using some of the skills he had picked from Chozen’s training to help the other kids fight Cobra Kai. Assuming Anthony will want to resume his training, it is not too late for him to learn from his father. Even though Chozen would also be a great teacher for Anthony, it would be cool to see Daniel training his younger child the same way he once trained Sam.
