The New Mr. And Mrs. Smith TV Series Makes A Big, Smart Change From The Movie

Another reason this show is exciting involves the lead performers. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had both been in action-adventure mode in various projects before starring in the movie, but this show gives Donald Glover and Maya Erskine the chance to spread their wings as actors and adopt personas they’ve never donned before. Both of them have been known for comedies — Glover for shows like “Community” and “Atlanta,” Erskine for “PEN15” and the 2019 movie “Plus One” — but this puts them squarely in big-tent action mode with a side of simmering romance. I can’t wait to see what they do here.

I spoke about this with /Film’s Chris Evangelista on today’s episode of the /Film Daily podcast, which you can listen to below:

We also touched on Sean Gunn joining the DCU, the death of Norman Lear, “The Zone of Interest,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” and more.
